So, I found out recently that Nalgene bottles are not so good (to put it nicely).  What do I mean by “not so good?”  Well, apparently they cause cancer (then again, what doesn’t these days).  It has something to do with a chemical called “Bisphenol A” or BPA that is one of the components of polycarbonate plastics like Lexan (which is what most Nalgenes are made of)
I love my Nalgene and drink a ton of water from it every day.  It seems as though my Nalgene does not love me back.  Sad times.
To my Nalgene, who has broken my heart:
I believe it is time that you and I parted ways.  We had a good thing going, but when I found out you were trying to kill me, I just couldn’t deal with that.  After being together for so many years, I thought I could trust you.  Our relationship isn’t healthy anymore, so we need to break things off.  I’m sorry.
The bottle pictured above is not my Nalgene, rather it is what I am seriously thinking about getting to replace it.  It’s a Sigg Traveler 1L Aluminum Bottle.  Unfortunately, these bottles (along with many other non-plastic and non-polycarbonate bottles) are in very short supply and are difficult to find.
Jess and I are going to be up in Dallas this weekend, so I think a trip to REI may be in order.
Anybody know of any other good bottles (that don’t have BPA in them)?
